Side Chick Catching Main Chick Feelings 2 Read online

We let Lee Lee out at her car and as we pulled off, Dray reached for my hand.
My heart smiled.
He was definitely being affectionate here lately.
All I’ve ever wanted was him.
I’d gone through hell and high waters just to be with and have him.
From prison to side chick, to someone else’s mistress, everything had always been for him.
But hopefully he could see that.
Hopefully by now he could see how much his love meant to me.
We drove in complete silence but I could tell that we both wanted to say something.
I could tell that he had slowly fallen back in love with me.
And I could even tell that he wanted to make love to me.
And I felt it too.
I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to yet or if my body was up to it, but I wanted to more than anything in the world.
Maybe we could take it slow.
With the music getting me in the mood, I couldn’t wait to get home but…
The car started to spin and Drake let go of my hand and held on tightly to the steering wheel.
The tires screeched and I could tell that he was focusing on trying to press the brakes and keep the car on all four tires.
After seeing my life flash before my eyes, after what seemed like forever, finally we stopped spinning.
“Moet?”
“I’m fine.”
“Did you see that? That van came out of nowhere.”
I hadn’t seen a thing.
I had been too busy thinking about seeing him naked that I hadn’t been paying attention.
I looked around the scene as folks started to rush over to us.
I didn’t see a van.
It must have been long gone.
Thank goodness that Drake was paying attention.
After a few minutes of conversation and being as to that we were fine, Drake drove us home and we didn’t speak until we were behind closed doors.
“Coincidence?”
“I’m not sure.”
“What if it wasn’t?”
“What if it was?”
“Something tells me that something just ain’t right.”
“I know,” he said.
“We have to do something.”
“I know,” he said again.
He sat on the bed beside of me and held up his pinky finger.
“I got you.”
“If you got me,” I responded and for the first time in what seemed like forever, Drake kissed me.
~***~
For the most part, things had been normal.
I was pretty much healed.
Dray and I were on better terms.
I wasn’t sure if marriage was back in our view but I knew that he felt that all we had was each other.
Between the two of us, there were probably a number of folks that we could call enemies, so we were watching our backs at all times.
I sat watching the surveillance of Vicki approaching my front door.
Since I’d been attacked, and after the pop ups, we’d gotten security alarms and surveillance for the house so that I would feel better about being home alone.
I wasn’t a punk or anything but with the way that things had been going, and with the attack, Kane randomly coming by and Jinx following him, the surveillance was definitely necessary.
Hell since obviously they had followed us some time or another and knew where we lived, there was no telling what that crazy couple would do next.
And now Vicki was at our house too?
I sure as hell had never invited her there so more than likely she had probably followed Lee Lee some time or another.
But what the hell did she want with me?
I had planned to go for her job as payback since she’d been the one to attack me at the condo, from thinking that I was some other woman of Lee Lee’s.
And since she was giving my sister such a hard time, I figured that it was time for me to mess up her life a little bit since she didn’t mind messing with folks.
My sister had given me plenty of nude pictures of her and from working from home a time or two, I still had plenty of emails of the company’s top dogs and their clients.
I also had her email information so when the time was right I was going to log into her account and send them all nude pictures of her.
Granted some might be happy to receive them but if just one out of the bunch found an issue with them and made sure that she was fired behind it all, then my job was done.
And she loved that job too.
So it was definitely going to hit her where it hurts the most.
That will teach that bitch to keep her hands to herself.
If you don’t know something, you ask questions.
But I was going to go through with it all soon.
I figured waiting until I was top notch was the best thing to do just in case we had to bang.
Right now, my body was still in no condition to be fighting and carrying on.
I was sure that she would figure that I was behind it and I didn’t care.
She knocked on the door and I just sat and looked at her.
No good was going to come from this.
I could tell by zooming in to look at her face that she was not a happy camper.
I ain’t opening the door.
Nope.
I ain’t going do it.
Vicki waited to see if I would come to the door.
I guess that I wasn’t moving fast enough because she started to beat on it harder and when that didn’t work, she started to kick it.
And I do mean literally kick it.
She was kicking the hell out of my front door!
Lee Lee was right…she seriously had some problems.
I knew that I was going to have open the door eventually or someone was going to end up calling the police because from the looks of it she was going anywhere, anytime soon.
I took my time heading to the door and just before opening it, I grabbed a baseball bat out of the closet just before the entrance.
If she tried anything, at all, she’d surely be on her way to meet her Maker today.
I cracked opened the door.
“What?”
“Moet, have you seen Legacy?”
“No.”
“Since when?”
“Since whenever. I’m sure if she hasn’t reached out to you, she probably doesn’t want to be bothered. From my understanding she wants you to leave her alone. Maybe you should.”
Vicki looked behind her, repeatedly, as though something was chasing her or something.
It was funny.
When I worked for her she had always been so put together. Never was a single hair on her head out of place.
But standing there, looking at her, I could tell that she wasn’t herself.
To be honest, I could tell that she was a woman who was in love…all by herself and I could see that it was messing with her on a whole different level.
I was no psychiatrist or anything, but it was so obvious that she was tripping.
I had been there before, at least to some degree, so I understood.
And in a way, I felt a small ounce of pity for her.
“Well, if you see her, could you tell her to call me?”
I didn’t answer her, I just shrugged.
As she turned to leave, I thought about taking the bat and hitting her in the back of the head.
Hell, that could have been my payback and I wouldn’t even have to carry out the other plan.
Just as the thought crossed my mind, she turned back around to face me.
“I’m sorry Moet for the head thing and all. Love just makes me a little crazy. I didn’t mean it I just thought…well anyway, sorry,” she said and she walked off.
I closed the door immediately and called my sister Lee Lee.
Trust me, I know obsession when I see it, and she was definitely obsessed with my sister.
/> “Where you at?”
“I’m at home. Why?”
“Your little whatever she is just popped up at my house.”
“Ugh.”
“You’re ignoring her?”
“Duh. She just needs to leave me alone. She wants answers that I can’t give her. And the ones that I can, she doesn’t want to accept them. She says that I was her first experiment too, but she is definitely my last. Women are crazier than men. Never again.”
“Girl what did you do to her?”
“That’s just it. I didn’t really do a thing. It was her mostly doing it to me. I made a terrible, terrible mistake. It’s all like a nightmare and I just want it to be over.”
I could hear something in her voice so I just had to ask.
“Are you scared of her Legacy?”
Lee Lee was quiet for a second.
“Physically, fighting wise, not even a little bit. But of her mental state and what she might do, absolutely.”
“Well, if you need to come here and stay a while, just let me know.”
We chatted a little while longer.
She talked about their whole argument and fight which had put them in jail again and then she proceeded to talk about the new guy that she was seeing.
I knew it wouldn’t be too long before she was doing what Lee Lee does best.
Men.
She talked and talked as though he was “the one” but I’d heard her say the same thing a thousand times before.
Lee Lee always thought that she’d found the one until she found out that she was always the other one.
Or until she found someone else that had more potential at being the one, more than the last one.
You just never know with her.
To be honest, she was the only one of us with that whole sexual, promiscuous side.
Mama surely wasn’t like that, and none of the rest of us were like that either; but Legacy was.
I’d always felt like maybe something had happened to her.
Something inappropriate or something that she was ashamed of.
But of course she never hinted that anything had.
Her personality and the way she easily handed out her body just always made me wonder.
But maybe I was thinking too much.
Maybe it was nothing at all.
Just as she was about to start on a new topic, a familiar beating sound interrupted her.
Vicki.
She must have made it to her house and was now pounding on her door as well.
“I’ll call you back,” Lee Lee said and hung up before I could respond.
I shook my head and even managed to chuckle.
Vicki was crazy.
But crazy or not, she was about to go down.

Chapter FOUR
“But I’m starting to worry Dray. I’ve been calling her for over a week and she hasn’t returned my calls,” I said to Dray as he massaged my feet.
I hadn’t heard from Lee Lee since the day that Vicki popped up at my house and then at hers.
I’d gone by her house several times, but she never seemed to be home.
Her car was never there.
I figured that maybe she was staying at Vicki’s but of course Drake wouldn’t tell me where she lived and since I’d sent the nude pictures from her e-mail that same day once I was off of the phone with Lee Lee, Vicki hadn’t been at work.
I was sure that she’d probably gotten fired but had I known that I wouldn’t hear from my sister the next day, I would have waited on my whole little revenge scheme.
I was really starting to get worried.
But no one else seemed to think that it was strange.
Our oldest sister stated that over that past few years, she would get missing for weeks at a time, all the time.
I hated that she had such a reputation that if something was actually wrong, it was hard for folks to even be concerned.
But I was.
Dray stopped rubbing my feet to pull his ringing phone out of his pocket.
He looked at it and then placed it back where it was.
He didn’t bother to answer it.
He never answered it.
Someone was still calling him all the time and I was tired of trying to pretend like I didn’t notice it.
“Who was that?”
“My new side chick. Somebody had to take your spot.”
“Oh really?”
Drake laughed.
“It’s business. I’ll call them back later,” Drake said and started back on my feet.
He always said that but I wasn’t stupid.
Someone was calling him, all the time, and I needed to know who it was, like yesterday!
“So, someone had to take my spot. Are you saying we are back together?”
We hadn’t discussed what we were exactly nor had we had sex as of yet and with everything that had gone on with me and losing the baby and everything else, Drake hadn’t even mentioned it.
But we had kissed a few times and he was definitely being more loving from when everything first happened.
“Are you saying we are back together?”
“I’m saying that I don’t want to let you go.”
“What kind of answer is that?”
“The only answer I have. And I’ll ride by Vicki’s place and check to see if Legacy is there.”
I nodded.
Vicki had better not done anything to her.
“And if she isn’t, maybe ask Naomi if she has seen Vicki. Just to make sure they haven’t skipped town together or something,” I suggested.
No, I didn’t want him talking to his ex-wife but hey, maybe she knew where her sister was and maybe she even knew where my sister was too.
And besides, she loved Kane.
Not Drake.
“No Moe. Now you’re asking for too much,” he said and I pouted.
I didn’t even bother to continue with the conversation.
I figured it was time that we discussed a few other things instead.
“So, do you think it’s time that we talk about it?”
“Talk about what?”
“Losing the baby Dray.”
I studied his face to try to figure out what he was thinking or feeling before he even opened his mouth.
“I mean, am I disappointed? Yes. Am I upset that it happened to you? Absolutely. Am I worried about a future with us without kids? I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t. I really wanted kids. And I know you did too. But the good news is that there are always other options.”
I looked at Dray as he talked.
He wanted babies and I couldn’t give them to him.
It made me all the more upset and furious with Jinx.
“I don’t know if I could ever deal with not being able to be a mother.”
“We will deal with it together.”
“I hate Jinx. I hate her for doing this to me. To us.”
“Well, since you mentioned it, were you serious?”
I assumed he was asking about killing Jinx the same way that he had killed his parents.
Hell yeah I was serious.
I didn’t want to be, but I was.
“Yes.”
Dray took a deep breathe.
I could tell that he didn’t think it was such a good idea but that he was going to do it because I’d asked him to.
“So, I was thinking of handling it tomorrow. Jinx. I wanted to give things some time to cool off but if we are going to do this, let’s get it done and over with. I’m doing this for you but I’ll get something out of it too. I’ll know that Kane is suffering too. I want him to hurt from losing her. It’ll look like an accident as long as I do everything just right so I doubt he, or anyone else, will suspect that we had anything to do with it. I’ll do what I need to do tonight to her car and first thing in the morning we can go to the courthouse.”
What?
“The courthouse?”

Yes. Get married.”
“Excuse me?”
“I know you got my back but going down this road again, we need to be husband and wife. Don’t you think so? I mean, anything could happen. Probably not, but it could. You down for it or not?”
Well, I definitely never thought tying the knot would come into play because of planning to get rid of a problem, again, but I guess at this point, I had to take it for what it was.
And I didn’t exactly like the way that he’d asked me.
It was nothing compared to the graveyard proposal but it is what it is.
Beggars couldn’t be choosy I suppose.
“Ok.”
We spent the rest of the evening together, talking and hashing out unresolved issues.
Of course he asked a few questions about having sex with Kane but I half ass answered them because I knew that he would try to get mad if I ever told him the truth.
I wasn’t stupid.
After a while of talking, he dressed in all black to head out to do his dirty work and mess up Jinx car.
I wondered how he knew where they lived as well and if he would actually be able to get it done.
But I didn’t ask any questions.
He glanced at me one last time and headed out the front door.
Just as he was closing the door, his phone started to ring.
Who in the hell was calling his phone…again?
~***~
Daddy kissed my nose.
It wasn’t the wedding that I wanted but it was the one that I was going to have to settle for.
It was early in the morning but my Daddy and my youngest sister Velvet had managed to come out to witness the marriage between Drake and I.
We stepped up to start the process and I looked at him.
This was it.
I was finally about to be his wife.
Drake looked happy for the most part but I could tell that the whole dirty deed involving Jinx was on his mind.
After sleeping on it last night, I too felt that maybe it was a bit much but she had to pay for what she had done to me and I was willing to bet that she probably had something else up her sleeve.
She was out to get me so she had to be got first.
But despite what I told myself, I still felt a little uneasy about it all just as I had the first time Dray and I had to do the unthinkable to save Drake.
Now we were in a sense saving me.
Maybe.
Probably.
I wasn’t sure.
As the Justice of Peace started to speak, I stared at Drake and finally I was able to see forever in his eyes.
